Seniors Council Hosts Solutions Summit for Santa Cruz County

The Seniors Council of Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties proudly hosted the Master Plan for Aging (MPA) Solutions Summit for Santa Cruz County on October 16th, bringing together community leaders, elected officials, aging advocates, and local residents to discuss innovative strategies and actionable solutions to enhance the quality of life for older adults in the region.

The event, held at Mount Hermon Camp and Conference Center, focused on the “Five Bold Goals” of the MPA: Housing for All Stages and Ages; Health Reimagined; Inclusion & Equity, not Isolation; Caregiving that Works; and Affording Aging. Attendees participated in topic-focused breakout groups, aimed at fostering collaboration among stakeholders committed to improving the lives of seniors in Santa Cruz County.

“Today’s summit provides inspirational ideas to lead our community in addressing the challenges of our rapidly aging county,” said Clay Kempf, Executive Director of the Seniors Council, “but our real work starts now, as we try to turn those ideas into reality.”

Highlights from the summit included a keynote address by Seniors Council Board President Pam Arnsberger, who emphasized the importance of community-driven solutions and the role of local organizations in addressing the unique needs of older adults. Breakout sessions allowed participants to share best practices, discuss challenges, and brainstorm new ideas to implement in their communities.

Following the Summit, participants will form working groups to enact the solutions they collaboratively created.  More information about joining one or more working group is available by contacting the Seniors Council at contact@seniorscouncil.org.
